Susan Spier 1827 - A sampler reproduction by Queenstown Sampler Designs
This listing is for the cross stitch chart only.

The Susanna Spier 1827 is a captivating sampler. We are provided a glimpse into the quintessential English country village. Susanna inscribes her name within a graceful ribbon, entwining a bouquet of stylized flowers. Tree-lined walkways lead down, around the village church and to a figure that is drawing up water from the well. The central brick home is the main focus, while potted flowers line the center path to the front gate. In the upper right corner, a duck parade marches beneath the windmill as a walkway leads by a house to a gate on the hill side. The happy cows are watching the Milkmaid as she walks along the country path, delivering their morning offerings to the Milk House. The young calf, safe behind his mother, is also regarding the maid. There are other animals around the village including a horse, owl, dog and a caged lion. All this bucolic contentment is surrounded with a delightful floral border.

Stitch count is 285 W x 291 H. Stitches used are: cross over one and two linen threads, and half - cross.

The model was stitched on 36 count Summer Khaki Edinburgh linen using a combination of Needlepoint Inc silk thread and hand dyed silk thread from Gloriana Silk threads and the Thread Gatherer.
